Eight brands and the best teams in GT racing battle for the title in one of the world’s leading GT series. Next to Ferrari making its return, Honda is represented in the field for the first time with its NSX GT3. Seven former champions are up against high-class drivers such as sports car world champion Timo Bernhard, two-time DTM champion Timo Scheider, DTM ace Jamie Green, sports car specialist Stefan Mücke or 24h Nürburgring winner Markus Winkelhock.
From a sporting perspective, the series’ twelfth season was more balanced and contested than ever before. Competition in the field of the over 600hp strong super sports car is incredibly close, many drivers alternate in the top three. Eventually, 22 different drivers have made it onto the top step of the podium, more than ever before. Over the course of the season, Audi, Lamborghini, Porsche, Corvette and Mercedes-AMG each take turns in the lead of the standings. These brands decide the battle for the title among them. In an entertaining finale, Porsche wins its first title since 2008 with Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet, suitably in the year of the 70thanniversary of the brand.
